SOUTHINGTON BLUE KNIGHTS SPRING FOOTBALL 2015

“DOMINATE AND COMPETE EVERY DAY”

SCHEDULE:

May 22nd Spring Ball Initial Meeting/Testing/Weight Room

     o 2:30pm4:30pm
     o Dress: Cleats and Sneakers (need cleats for 40 yd testing).

            o Submit Yellow Cards and White Participation Form.

May 23rd Testing/Weight Room

​            o 8:30am10:30am

     o Dress: Cleats and Sneakers (need cleats for 40 yd testing).

     o Submit Yellow Cards and White Participation Form.

May 26th Equipment Handout/Weight Room

     o 2:30pm5:00pm
     o Dress: Sneakers and black, blue or gray shorts/t-shirts

     o Submit Yellow Cards and White Participation Form.

May 27th – Lifting/Meetings

May 28th Equipment Handout/Weight Room

May 29th Help Set up/Participate for Relay for Life

      o Starts at 2:30 on the Football Field. Set up until about 3:30/4pm. Mandatory for all players to be there. If you cannot, then Coach Drury must be notified by players in person. 

     o Volunteer evening walking times for the evening will be forthcoming.

May 30th Participate for Relay for Life

     o All players are needed for this.

     o Volunteer walking times will be forthcoming

June 1st Practice # 1

Spring Football Guidelines

  • All players must have their yellow cards and participation forms handed in to Coach Drury before they are allowed to begin practice. NO EXCEPTIONS. (These will be collected at the Spring Football Meeting on 5/22)

  • All grades should be in good standing prior to starting Spring Football. If a student-athlete has grades that are low they may be required to stay after school for extra-help prior to coming out to practice. These will be check by Coach Drury prior to the start of Spring Football. **Please note. If a player is ineligible for Quarter 4, then they cannot participate in Spring Football**
  • All players must be present at every practice. If there are any unexcused absences, then the player will not be allowed to participate in the rest of Spring Practice and/or the Spring Football Game.

      o Unexcused Absence No Show, No Call Miss.
      o Excused Absence Medical Reason, Family Emergency, or Situation that has been approved by Coach Drury in advance. (These must be discussed with Coach Drury prior and in person by the player)

  • Players need to complete their in-season sport prior to starting practice for Spring Football. If a player wants to watch the practice after his practice, he will be allowed to do so. However, he will not be allowed to participate until his sport is finished.
  • All players are responsible for their equipment and personal belongings in the locker room. Students from other sports may be in the same area as us during spring football. Players must have locks for their lockers at school. (Any lost or stolen equipment are the responsibility of the student-athlete).

 

  • RELAY FOR LIFE:

      o Just a reminder, the Southington Relay for Life event is Friday May 29th and Saturday May 30th.  Please click the link below to sign-up.

  1. BECOME A TEAM. (BUILD THAT GREAT CHEM!)
  2. PREPARE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL.
  3. LEARN, PRACTICE AND EXUCUTE OUR OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE AND SPECIAL TEAM SYSTEMS.
  4. PLAY SOUND AND PHYSICAL FOOTBALL.
  5. PRACTICE AND PLAY AT A HIGH TEMPO.
  6. PRACTICE WITH ENERGY.

 

 

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS: 3-P’S and 3-R’s

1. Be PROMPT​

      a. BE EARLY TO ALL TEAM ACTIVITIES.

2. Be PREPARED

      a. Be prepared for outdoor and indoor practice at all times.

      b. Bring a pen and notebook to all team meetings.

3. Be POSITIVE

​      a.  Love to practice.

    b.  Build each other up. NO PUTDOWNS. 

    c. Smile (We are having fun playing this game)

4. Be RESPONSIBLE

      a. Keep your priorities in line: 1. Family 2. Academics 3. Football

    b. You are “SPECIAL” because you represent Southington High School, this Football

Program and the Community. Represent these GREAT! 

5. Be RELIABLE

    a. To your family and team

    b. You are required to be at all team activities.

    c. In order to be successful, we must be there (emotionally and physically) for each other.

    d. Know your responsibility and execute it.

6. Be RESPECTFUL

    a. To your family, teachers, teammates and coaches

    b. To be respected, you must give respect to others

    c. There is ZERO tolerance for disrespect on this team!
