Cheshire wins Apple Classic 24-11
 
CHESHIRE - The Cheshire Rams finished the regular season with a record of 9-1 with a 24-11 win over Southington in the Apple Classic Thursday morning.

Southington (5-5) started the scoring in the first quarter on the defensive side when Joe Pesce recorded a safety for the Blue Knights.

Cheshire then scored twice in the final two minutes of the quarter, the first on a 1-yard run by Greg Palmer. The two-point conversion failed.

The Rams then scored with 11 seconds left in the quarter when Dan Sweeney broke free for a 63-yard touchdown run. Paul Tuscano hit Sebastian Little for the two-point conversion to give Cheshire a 14-2 lead.

Palmer opened the second quarter with an 83-yard touchdown pass to Brian Havlicek to give the Rams a 21-2 lead.

Southington's Dylan Danko kicked a 20-yard field goal with 4:14 left in the first half, but Kyle Pulek answered with a 24-yard field goal with 18 seconds left to give Cheshire a 24-5 halftime lead.

Connor Butkiewicz threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Dube with 8:35 left in the third quarter to cut Cheshire's lead to 24-11. The two-point conversion run failed.

Neither team scored in the final quarter.
