Cheshire vs. Southington

The Cheshire linebacking crew had a terrific day and so did the secondary, thwarting several opportunities. Lost in the mix perhaps was senior defensive tackle Steven Sutherland.

“Steven is a very good conditioned athlete and runs hard on every single snap," said Cheshire assistant coach Greg Ferry. "He got really good pressure on the Southington quarterback."

The Rams have 22 seniors and were noted afterward by head coach Mark Ecke.

“We were not focused on the playoffs or beating Southington," said Ecke. "We just wanted the seniors to have a great experience.”

Cheshire's Dan Sweeney was named the Cheshire's offensive MVP and the 1st annual Apple Valley Classic's Outstanding Player of the Game and teammate sophomore linebacker Dylan Baumgardner was named the Rams' defensive MVP. Baumgardner had a fumble recovery in the game

Southington's Joe Pesce was the team defensive offensive MVP and Zachary Etter was the offensive MVP.
